We all read a lot in our family. My second biggest concern (after the one about how the children are going to fare in local schools), is that I won't bring enough English language books to last us until we can read French ones.
I'm currently trawling charity shops, buying books by the yard, but wanted to find out how many English language books I'm likely to have access to. Once we've arrived, and I've joined a library (which will no doubt involve eleventy-two forms and passport photos), can I then use other local libraries? Is it like the UK, where you join one library but can then use any others in the county on the same card?
For example, I've emailed Morges library, who reassuringly answered that they have around 200 English books (rah!) - but in six months' time, can I then move on to any other library in a 30km radius, without joining all those separately? Or is it more that once we live in (say) Morges, that's the only one we can use? Or perhaps they do inter-library loans?
Thanks for any help you can give on this. And naturally I'll be up for book swaps with anyone in the local area.
